How big should my file be?

If not using our templates we recommend designing your pins at 300 DPI at whatever the size pin you are ordering Note: Changing size settings after creating your design at a small size or low DPI will not increase the quality. Design your pins at a larger size than necessary and you won't need to worry about the print quality.

Paper Options

If you choose to print your pins on our silver, gold or acetate papers, it is important to note that you cannot have white as part of your design. Because printers do not actually print white but instead allow the colour of the paper to show through, when printing on these specialty papers their colour replaces white.

Outline fonts for illustrator

If designing in Adobe Illustrator or another vector program please make sure to convert your fonts to outlines or include the fonts with your file. If possible, outlining fonts is always preferred.

Is your file CMYK?

Your file should be saved as a CMYK or grayscale image. CMYK is the image mode used when dealing with graphics that will be printed. RGB colour mode is used to display graphics on your computer screen. Because RGB uses the light of your computer monitor instead of inks, it can produce much brighter colours. For a better representation of what your pin will look like when printed, create your files as CMYK images.

Designing for a circle

It may seem obvious, but when designing your pin please keep in mind that your logo, type or any other important elements should be in the center so that they don’t get lost when the corners are trimmed.

Type on edge of pin

Feel free to let us know if you have a web site address or message you would like around the edge of your pin.
